Great Resource: BuiltWith.com 20 April 2010

I was in a mad dash to complete the website assignment last week.  Having not been able to be in class the week before, I had no idea how to identify technology used on a website.  Surely Kathy had shared some secret “code” for answering the “what technologies used?” question.  Typing in “how to determine website technology used”, Google delivered again.  The first listing for Stackflow referenced a few query sites.  BuiltWith was top of the list.

The site is great.  Just type in any website you’re interested in and up pops a list of technologies.  For example, Netflix site technologies include HTML 4/4.01 strict, meta robot, meta description, meta keywords, canonical content tag, CSS, and javascript.  Accuracy is assured, as the results are based on a quick site query.
